Something I’ve learned along this journey is that the best way to alleviate any type of fear is to educate yourself. We’ve all heard it before, “Fear of the unknown.” Something I’ve learned over the past two years is that you gain control of the situation and lessen that fear by taking the time to inform yourself, and others, about what it is that you need to know. In regards to kidney failure and being a potential donor, there is a wealth of information available online. NKF – U.S. Transplant Games: I was made aware of this organization from Melissa Carter of the radio station Q100. Melissa received a kidney transplant in 2002 and is very active in the Atlanta community. Look her up; her success story will lift your spirits – it certainly did me!
